There’s nothing sexy about cracked, calloused heels hanging off the back of a pair of sandals. Unfortunately, this is a common problem among people. And if you’re doing your own pedicures at home, you may not be using the best methods to remove the hardened skin off the bottoms of your feet. Here are some easy pedicure tips to remove calluses from your feet. • Soaking your feet in a basin filled with warm water for 10-minutes is one of the best pedicure tips to help soften the calluses and dead skin in the bottoms of your feet. • Once the calluses are softened, use a pumice stone to scrub the calloused areas of your feet. Move the pumice stone in circular motions for the best results. Dip your feet back in the water periodically to rinse dead skin away. Repeat the process until all the dead skin is removed. • A pumice stone is very abrasive, so don’t scrub too vigorously, as this will only cause injury to the bottoms of your feet. You can also use a callous softening cream before you begin sloughing. • Remove your feet from the water, and use a clean towel to dry them off. Apply a moisturizer to the feet, concentrating on the areas that are prone to dry skin. Thin moisturizers rarely do the trick, so use a quality moisturizer that’s specially formulated for dry, cracked feet. • Some great pedicure tips to keep your feet soft between pedicures are to apply Vaseline to the feet, and put on a pair of socks before bedtime. And use a pumice stone while you’re in the tub or shower to gently scrub the bottoms of your feet every two days. Pedicure tips such as soaking your feet, using a pumice stone, and properly moisturizing dry areas can remove unattractive calluses from your feet so they always look great in sandals.
